The real facts of life as seen through the eyes of
Bill Gates

Love him or hate him, he sure hits the nail on the 
head with this!  To anyone with kids of any age, here's 
some advice.

Bill Gates recently gave a speech at a High School 
about 11 things they did not and will not  learn in 
school.  He talks about how feel-good, politically 
correct teachings created a generation of kids with no 
concept of reality and how this concept set them up 
for failure in the real world.

Rule 1:  Life is not fair - get used to it!

Rule 2:  The world won't care about your self-esteem. 
The  world will expect you to  accomplish something BEFORE 
you feel good about  yourself.

Rule 3:  You will NOT make $60,000 a year right out of 
high school.

You won't be a vice-president with a car phone until 
you earn both.

Rule 4:  If you think your teacher is tough, wait till 
you get a boss.

Rule 5:  Flipping burgers is not beneath your dignity.  
Your Grandparents had a different word for burger flipping:   
they called it opportunity.

Rule 6:  If you mess up, it's not your parents' fault, so 
don't whine about your mistakes, learn from them.

Rule 7: Before you were born, your parents weren't 
as boring as they are now.  They got that way from 
paying your bills, cleaning your clothes and listening 
to you talk about how cool you thought you were. 
So before you save the rain forest from the parasites 
of your parent's generation, try delousing the closet 
in your own room.

Rule 8:  Your school may have done away with winners 
and losers, but life HAS NOT.  In some schools, they 
have abolished failing grades and they'll give you as 
MANY TIMES as you want to get the right answer. 
This doesn't bear the slightest resemblance to ANYTHING 
in real life.

Rule 9:  Life is not divided into semesters. You don't 
get summers off and very few employers are interested 
in helping you FIND YOURSELF.  Do that on your own time.

Rule 10:  Television is NOT real life.  In real life 
people actually have to leave the coffee shop and go 
to jobs.

Rule 11: Be nice to nerds.  Chances are you'll end up 
working for one.

Subject: THE POST OFFICE

There was a man who worked for the Post Office whose 
job it was to process all the mail that had illegible 
addresses.

One day, a letter came addressed in a shaky handwriting 
to God with no actual address. He thought he should 
open it to see what it was about.

The letter read:

Dear God,
I am an 83 year old widow, living on a very small 
pension. Yesterday someone stole my purse. It had 
$100 in it, which was all the money I had
until my next pension check.

Next Sunday is Christmas, and I had invited two of 
my friends over for dinner. Without that money, I 
have nothing to buy food with.

I have no family to turn to, and you are my only hope.

Can you please help me?

The postal worker was touched. He showed the letter 
to all the other workers. Each one dug into his or 
her wallet and came up with a few dollars. By the 
time he m ade the rounds, he had collected $96, which
they put into an envelope and sent to the woman.

The rest of the day, all the workers felt a warm glow 
thinking of Edna and the dinner she would be able to 
share with her friends.

Christmas came and went.

A few days later, another letter came from the same old 
lady to God. All the workers gathered around while the 
letter was opened.

It read,

Dear God,

How can I ever thank you enough for what you did for me?

Because of your gift of love, I was able to fix a glorious 
dinner for my friends. We had a very nice day and I told 
my friends of your wonderful gift.

By the way, there was $4 missing. I think it must have 
been those thieves at the Post Office.

Democrat vs Republican Ideology

A young woman was about to finish her first year of college.
Like so many others her age, she considered herself to be
a very liberal Democrat, and was very much in favor of the
redistribution of wealth.

She was deeply ashamed that her father was a rather staunch
Republican, a feeling she openly expressed. Based on the
lectures that she had participated in, and the occasional
chat with a professor, she felt that her father had for
years harbored an evil, selfish desire to keep what he
thought should be his.

One day she was challenging her father on his opposition
to higher taxes on the rich and the addition of more
government welfare programs. The self-professed objectivity
proclaimed by her professors had to be the truth and she
indicated so to her father. He responded by asking how
she was doing in school. Taken aback, she answered rather
haughtily that she had a 4.0 GPA, and let him know that it
was tough to maintain, insisting that she was taking a very
difficult course load and was constantly studying, which
left her no time to go out and party like other people she
knew. She didn't even have time for a boyfriend, and didn't
really have many college friends because she spent all her
time studying.

Her father listened and then asked, "How is you friend Audrey
doing?" She replied, "Audrey is barely getting by. All
she takes are easy classes, she never studies, and she
barely has a 2.0 GPA. She is so popular on campus, college
for her is a blast. She's always invited to all the parties,
and lots of times she doesn't even show up for classes because
she's too hung over."

Her wise father asked his daughter, "Why don't you go to the
Dean's office and ask him to deduct a 1.0 off your GPA and
give it t o your friend who only has a 2.0. That way you
will both have a 3.0 GPA and certainly that would be a fair
and equal distribution of GPA."

The daughter, visibly shocked by her father's suggestion,
angrily fired back, "That wouldn't be fair! I have worked
really hard for my grades! I've invested a lot of time, and
a lot of hard work! Audrey has done next to nothing toward
her degree. She played while I worked my tail off!"

The father slowly smiled, winked and said gently, "Welcome
to the Republican Party."

You may plan your path and you are allowed to,
but God will direct your steps as you carry out 
your plans.

You don't have to know the will of God before you 
start moving, because He will reveal it to you in
stages as you move along with Him.
