Tracking a Mistake
A Big mistake beginners make when starting out is
"Window Shopping" - You are all set up and running,
however - you go "Window Shopping" - what is
"Window Shopping"?
There are many different versions of "Window Shopping."
First off - there is a lot of time and effort put into
getting your site up and running and developing your
famous "LIST" - you always hear "the money is in
the
list" - well guess what - IT IS.
Let's take for instance our autoresponder - you find
one you like and set it up and it is running just
fine, but you find out a new one has been developed.
OK - so let's try that one - here we go around that
mountain of moving your list - Oh No - what has
happened - some of your subscribers didn't confirm
the request to change lists - now you've lost as
many as half of them - yes this is a true figure,
learned from experience.
Well now this one is running along pretty good and
your list is growing again - you think it's about
time to upgrade to another autoresponder - now you
don't think of all the places that you have entered
your subscription e-mail (which should be in every
communication you send out).
Moving on to newer and more updated autoresponders
you sign up for another one and around that mountain
of moving your list you go again. Big Surprise -
didn't you learn your lesson the first time - WOW,
you've lost half your list again because they did
not confirm your new autoresponder request. I hate
double opt-in - it is a list killer - however, it
is becoming a must to use.
Now you have your second e-mail address scattered
over the internet for subscribers - remember most
autoresponders require the request to come from the
subscriber so you are unable to subscribe them
yourself without a confirmation.
This time you have learned your lesson - oh but look,
this autoresponder is really cool and does much more
than my old one - hummmmm - thinking about going
around that mountain again - NOT - I know, we'll
just leave this list on my old autoresponder and
start a new list - it won't take long to upload
to both of them. Well life is a learning journey,
isn't it. Not such a good idea.
Technology is new and exciting and always developing
something new - so you will always want to be on the
cutting edge with your list. Just remember, each
time you move your list that has to have a confirmation
you will lose many of your subscribers.
I know myself when I subscribe for something - then
I get back to my e-mail and there sits the
confirmation, I look at it and think - I don't
really need this and I just skip over it -
we all do it. We can thank the spammers for
this lovely double opt-in inconvenience.
Want to get a rude awakening - just put the name
of your e-zine or your own name into the search
engine - click on a lot of the links - you will
see how many times you have your old
autoresponder listed for subscribing - and as
you stare and think what to do about it - you
realize how many subscriptions you have lost
because of the different subscribe addresses.
Guess how many I found while searching out my
old autoresponder addresses - five (5) - I
really wonder how many subscribers I have
missed because of this.
I thought I had my problem solved when I
purchased a script and put it on my own
domain - nope, didn't solve a thing - that
one went bust and left the person holding
the script up the creek without a paddle.
That list had over 10,000 subscribers.
If you are just starting out - you will
be lucky to have the chance to find a
good autoresponder and stick with it.
I would suggest a paid one - remember
you get what you pay for.

Lefty loosie - righty tighty - what the heck is this?
For those of you that can't remember which way to turn to
open a jar or unscrew the water hose, etc - I always end
up turning it the wrong way and making it tighter - I
just say this little jingle and get the lids right off.
You know - age - we sometimes have to resort to childish

A BABY AT YOUR AGE???
With all the new technology regarding fertility
recently, a 65-year-old woman was able to give
birth to a baby.
When she was discharged from the hospital and
went home, her relatives came to visit.
''May we see the new baby?" one asked.
